To celebrate the arrival of autumn, we’re reflecting on nine of our most unique and striking garden projects.

From idyllic landscape designs to flourishing planting schemes, our professional and experienced team have crafted an array of beautiful gardens throughout Oxfordshire and beyond. Enhancing gardens with luxurious outdoor living features and beautiful pollinator-friendly plants, here at The Oxfordshire Gardener we are passionate about crafting functional yet heavenly landscape designs. Flourishing for years to come, boosting local ecosystems and ensuring that you are able to make the most of your outdoor spaces, our team are dedicated to ensuring that you achieve a garden that can be used throughout the seasons. So, come with us, as we give you an exclusive insight into 9 of our most beautiful and bespoke garden projects.

1. The Manor House

Located in the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside, The Manor House was a delight to work on, with our designers working closely alongside the client to bring their vision to life.

In the rear garden, our masterly landscaping team began framing the space by laying a series of striking natural stone terraces. Adding further visual interest to the back garden, we embedded pathways into the landscape and dressed the swimming pool with a crisp stone outline.

At the front-of-house, our team crafted a warm and welcoming entrance, lining the driveway with semi-mature trees, parterres and planting.

2. The Sunken Garden

High in sensory value, earlier this year, our expert landscaping team created this glorious sunken garden. Established in a charming Cotswold country garden, our experienced landscaping team crafted this tranquil sunken feature. Including a network of gravel chip pathways, retaining walls and stairways, our team created this glorious landscape design. Encompassing two synchronised fountains that flow gently down into a reflective pool below, we dressed this fountain with a tranquil and fluid planting scheme to encourage maximum sensory value.

3. The Traditional Style New Build

Overlooking the mesmerising grounds of Blenheim Palace estate, our specialist team designed and transformed this glorious traditional style new build garden. Using a blend of locally sourced hard and soft landscaping elements, our team were able to create this naturally-inspired and striking garden design.

Including a gorgeous sandstone terrace, charming gravel-chip pathways and beautiful herbaceous beds, our team reinvented this garden into a breathtaking country garden.

To frame a warm and inviting entrance to the kitchen garden, our team constructed an elegant rambling rose walkway.

4. The Country Garden

Located in a beautiful Oxfordshire country village, our landscaping team enriched this garden with an assortment of natural and seamless country garden features.

Enhanced with a charming tumbled sandstone terrace, pine wood gateway and cosy garden log store, these features transformed this landscape into a seamless and functional country garden. Our team also embedded sunken planting pockets into the terrace, which will soon be planted with a bespoke planting scheme to bring structure, colour and fragrance to this outdoor living area throughout the seasons.

5. Townhouse Planting

A charming and secluded garden found in the heart of Oxford city centre, our creative soft landscaping team awoke this garden with a bespoke planting scheme rich with verdant forms and textures.

Including two main borders that were planted with echos of Taxus baccata yew, Rosemarinus and a tapestry of Lavandula, our team further enhanced this garden with visual interest by including a variety of climbers and multi-stem trees. To add a touch of dappled shade to the seating area, we planted a collection of Amelanchier lamarckii trees, which are a wonderful choice for adding an ever-changing palette to the garden that morphs from season to season.

6. The Asian-Inspired Kitchen Garden

What began as a charming blank canvas garden, our garden designers soon transformed a large section of this landscape into a flourishing kitchen garden. Heavily inspired by Asian cuisine, our kitchen garden specialists constructed a series of timeless raised beds to create the main frame.

Planted with a variety of nutrient-rich produce such as Edamame beans, Pak choi and Asian salad mixes, this growing space is a wonderful example of how kitchen gardens can be used to enhance your lifestyle and elevate your homemade dishes.

7. The Secret Garden

Located in a rural Cotswold village, our talented garden designers crafted this exclusive secret garden. Hidden at the rear of the house, our skilled in-house landscaping laid this beautiful reclaimed Yorkstone terrace.

Brought to life at night with path and spike lights to illuminate the canopy of trees above, our planting designers put the finishing touches to this secret space with a magical planting scheme. Filling beds and troughs with nutrient-rich organic compost, our soft landscaping team enhanced these spaces with a beautiful mix of nectar-rich perennials, structured ferns and shrubs.

8. The Woodstock Townhouse

Neighbouring the glorious estate of Blenheim Palace and found in the historic market town of Woodstock, our designers were delighted to work on this fascinating project. Inspired by the native, romantic Oxfordshire cottage garden, our soft landscaping formulated an elegant planting scheme to reflect the historic nature of this landscape.

To rejuvenate this garden with a fresh and mature palette, our designers replenished this landscape with a blend of white, pink and purple flora with hues of verdant green. Encouraging biodiversity and boosting this gardenscape with visual interest, our soft landscaping team used natural planting to restore the wow-factor into this idyllic Oxfordshire garden.

9. The Urban Garden

Urban areas often contain many different buildings and higher pollution rates, meaning that our outdoor spaces and gardens are vital in these areas. Therefore for this project, our team set out to transform the garden into a fluid and flourishing urban design.

Considerably boosting the visual interest of this townhouse garden, our team created an eye-catching living roof to add a charming tapestry of colour to this garden. A wonderful feature for boosting biodiversity, living roofs are valuable design elements that can easily be established into gardens, great or small.

To add depth and further sensory value to this space, our skilled landscaping team constructed a network of gravel chip pathways, complimented at the end of the garden with an idyllic timber rose arbour.
