Beetroot 

Easy to grow and a delicious root vegetable, Beta vulgaris (better known as beetroot) is an incredibly handy superfood to have growing in your garden. A fabulous ingredient for homemade salads, wholesome soups or even healthier brownie recipes too! Sown from March-June, beetroot seeds can be sown straight into the soil and can be harvested from June right through until October. Full of antioxidants and essential nitrates, beetroots are fantastic for both your lung and heart health.

Carrots

Worshippers of the sun, carrots flourish best when planted in areas that receive direct sunlight. Sown from February until July, homegrown carrots are a kitchen garden must and are a superfood through and through due to their high vitamin content. A versatile kitchen ingredient that can be used to make fresh energising smoothies to enhancing your scrumptious Sunday roast dinners.

Kale

Runner beans

Climbing up and growing over glorious garden archways, runner beans make a beautiful addition to any kitchen garden. High in fibre, vitamins and folate, runner beans are also significantly low in calories too. Perfect for growing in containers and raised beds, runner beans are a scrumptious superfood than can be harvested from mid-summer to autumn.

Bell peppers 

Grown in the greenhouse or outside in the kitchen garden, bell peppers are a sweet and tasty fruit than can be easily included into your superfood planting plan. Thriving in sunny and warm conditions, bell peppers need to firstly be sown indoors from winter-spring and can then be harvested later in the year, from July until October. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, bell peppers are fantastic for encouraging a balanced and healthy diet.

Tomatoes 

Enhancing a variety of meals, tomatoes are great for supporting a healthy and balanced diet. Fabulous for creating cosy autumn soups to tasty recipe sauces, tomatoes can be used to create a number of delicious meals and snacks.
