Just a handful of  plants we love for the garden, good performers and favourites for long flowering, colour, scent and butterflies
nandina-domestica
 Nandina domestica ‘Fire Power’

A great entrance plant to front of house Nandina is the equivalent of holly in the Far East. A good performing evergreen shrub with rich autumn jewel foliage and red berries in winter, with it’s compact nature it can be planted in a container.

rubeckia
Rudbeckia fulgida ‘Goldsturm’

This perky perennial takes us through the autumn harvest with its warm summer yellows to its dark, dramatic seedheads adding magical winter interest when covered in a sparkling frost.

Geraniun Rozanne May13

Geranium ‘Rozanne’

A mound-forming perennial with a soft velvety texture and large cupped vivid blue flowers, showing deep crimson veins to a white centre. We choose this variety for its captivating violet blue blooms which are repeated throughout the summer. In mid-summer we give them a shearing to encourage more flowers and freshen up the foliage a real winner.

Lavandula angustifolia ‘Hidcote’
A beautiful scented English lavender, evergreen perennial and frost hardy to -5C. A compact bush with dense stems of deep purple flowers. This looks a wonder planted in entrance borders. The name is thought to be from the latin ‘lavare’ meaning to wash, as it was used by the Romans to bathe in.

achillea

Achillea ‘Taygetea’
A clump-forming evergreen early summer herbaceous perennial; small saucers of yellow flowers on long stems. Loves a full sunny site in a naturalistic planting scheme. Butterflies like to land on dense flat heads. Ideal for cut flowers. Easy to grow, fully frost hardy and disease resistant.

Nepeta Walkers Low

Nepeta racemosa ‘Walker’s Low’
We particularly choose this variety of catmint for the brightness of the blue in this deep violet/blue flower. It is long flowering, from June to September. Scented blossom and the bees love it. Trim back after first flowering to bring another flourish of flowers then give it a hard prune to the ground in Autumn. Grows up to 50cm, fully hardy.
